Ranks
Shepherd:
The supreme ruler of the pack.
The Shepherd's word is law.
If you cross the Shepherd,
be ready to face punishment.
Overseer:
The second in command.
The Overseer runs the day to day operations of the pack.
The Overseer keeps an eye on the food supply,
and gets reports from the drivers, then brings the
report directly to the Shepherd.
Mender:
The healer of the pack.
Slaves get much worse treatment, and not nearly as much
sympathy. Slaves are only allowed to visit the mender if they
have a serious condition, which would hamper their ability to
work, therefore reducing the price.
Runners:
Runners are the general population of the pack.
They help out around, hunting when they have time, patrolling borders,
and helping the mender. They just help around, going
where they are needed, though they are not slaves.
They can't be forced into anything like a slave.
Drivers:
The Drivers are the caretakers of the slave.
And by caretakers, I mean they give the slaves just enough
food to keep them healthy. They keep the slaves in line,
snuffing any attempts at rebellion, and reporting anything
serious to the Overseer. The Drivers are also the
majority of the packs fighting force.
Marauders:
The "warriors" of the pack.
These are typically the biggest, strongest, most skilled
wolves in the pack. They are trained hard, and taught well.
These wolves are normally aggressive and on good terms with
the Shepherd. They don't interact with lambs or sheeps.
They protect the pack boundaries and sheeps from other wolves or
pack members. They prevent them from escaping.
Only the most capable and trusted wolves get this rank.
Claimers:
The Claimers are the wolves who leave the pack borders,
looking for potential slaves. The Claimers are usually faster wolves,
working in groups to take wolves captive. If an underlying failed to
be ranked, they take over the choice. Either they make them a lamb or
suggest a position for them.
Dealer:
The Dealer is the wolf who dos the bargaining with the customer.
The Dealer is usually a small wolf, to reassure the buyer.
They may seem harmless or dangerous. It's all about how
they use it to their advantage and as long as they
get customers, the Shepherd normally caresless about
what they do.
Manager:
The punishment aspect of the pack.
If a wolf has done something wrong, they can expect a visit from the
manager. If a slave acts out too boldly, they will be caused pain. The manager knows
how to cause horrible agony, without causing death. The manager is not a wolf you
want speaking with you, because if he does, it's most likely about your recent behavior.
Underlings:
The pups of any non-slave wolves
Or if a higher ranked wolf sees potential in the pup they will be places here.
These wolves range from 0 months - two years old. They're over seen
by either their parents or runners to see where they would fit
within the pack hierarchy. Most rank after they reach the age
of two years old. And those who dont are reevaluated to decide
what to do with them. If no chance for them, they're handed over to the Claimers.
Halfling:
Halflings are slaves who are half way to freedom.
They are still slaves to the pack, but can not be sold,
and are to be treated better. There are two ways a
slave can achieve this rank. If they prove themselves to
be a valuable slave, or if they become mated to a non-slave.
Sheep:
The Sheep are the slaves of the pack.
They are treated harshly. They are traded and sold,
treated like dirt, but they are worth a lot more
. In reality, they are what keep the pack going.
These are normally trespassers, enemy packr members
or loners who where at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Occasionally they may be previous pack members, who have
betrayed one of the higher ups.
Lambs:
The pups of the slaves.
They are treated cruelly, and beaten, to make
them more submissive and easier to control
as an adult. Their futures are bleak.
